FINGERPRINTING FUN!

If you look at the ridge of your fingerprint through a magnifying glass, the ridges on your fingerprints will end, or have small gaps in them, or even split into two separate ridges, Forensic sceintists use these points to match fingerprints. For them to be used in court, they normally need to be able to find a certain number of these points to match a fingerprint from crime scene to a suspect. This method works because every single person on earth has their own unique fingerprints-even twins.

Take the Fingerprint Fun worksheet. To make a fingerprint:
1. use a graphite pencil to make a swatch of 'ink' on a piece of paper
2. press a finger on the graphite adn then press that finger onto a sticky side of a pice of cellophane tape
3. stick the tape onto the piece of paper (Fingerprint Fun worksheet) for analysis
4. turn your worksheet into Mrs. O'Brien
