Summer Enrichment and Summer Art Instruction

 

Don't forget to check out the new art programs for summer enrichment.  Grade levels are only guidelines and Mrs. Plangemann is flexible in registering siblings.

 

Mrs. Plangemann will be offering small group art instruction this summer.  Contact the main office or email jplange@stmschoolpa.com for more information.

After-school Art Instruction

Session IV

May 5 - June 2

 

Mrs. Plangemann's next session of after school art classes will be held on five consecutive Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:15 in the Art Room.  Dates are May 5 - June 2.

Classes are limited to approximately 10 students and registration is on a first come first served basis.  Contact Mrs. Plangemann at jplange@stmschoolpa.com for more information or to register your child.  Classes are open to all students in grades 3-8.

My name is Mrs. Janet Plangemann.  I am a member of St. Thomas More Parish and have been teaching art here at STM for nine years.  All kindergarten through eighth grade students have art class once a week in the art room located on the first floor of the main building.  We routinely integrate art with grade level subject areas such as literature, social studies, religion, and math.  Students have the opportunity to create art and explore a wide variety of art media.  Through the use of information technology, slides, and fine art prints, students are exposed to a wide variety of artists and their artwork.

 

Arts Festival

We will be celebrating our annual STM Arts Festival the weekend of May 7.  Friday afternoon and evening, we will enjoy the presentation of the play, "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown".  The colonnade and hallways are beginning to overflow with examples of artwork created by students in all grades.

Our school will be open after masses on Sunday.  Be sure to take the time to explore our very own "STM Art Museum" and see our students' interpretations of Monet, Matisse, Picasso, Michelangelo and more!

 

Annual CYO Art Competition

This annual art contest will take place the weekend of May 22.  Any student in grades 5 -8 may submit artwork for preliminary judging to Mrs. Plangemann by Friday May 7.  All artwork must be matted. Artwork may also be framed.  Please see Mrs. Plangemann for the necessary paperwork.  More information will follow.

2009 Diocesan Art Contest - A  Celebration of the Arts

Congratulations to STM students Taylor Van Kooten and Olivia Morren.  Their artwork was selected as winners in the annual Diocesan Catholic Schools art contest. These students will be recognized at the Diocesan Celebration of the Arts on January 30, 2010 at Holy Name High School in Reading.  The theme for this years contest was, Catholic Schools: Faith and Knowledge for Life.
