Our school is pleased to announce that we will again offer the RAINBOWS FOR ALL GOD'S CHLIDREN program.
When a significant emotional event happens in a family, the entire family is affected. Even though death or divorce appears to be only a grown-up problem, it does have a profound effect on the child. If a parent, relative or close friend dies or a divorce/separation occurs, not only do the parents grieve, the child does also. Other life situations involving grief or loss include acute or chronic illness in the child or a family member, adoption, a family move, living in a single parent household, chemical dependency problems, the death of a much-loved pet, or any other event that incurs loss of any kind.
Rainbows is a weekly peer support group for children, kindergarten through eighth grade who are experiencing painful transitions. Groups are led by positive, caring, trained adults and will meet at school. We will meet weekly for twelve weeks.
Confidentiality is explained to the children and both students and leaders must sign a confidentiality contract.
Children may participate in RAINBOWS as many times as they choose. Many children find ongoing participation helpful as different issues may come up as children move through normal developmental stages.
Please download and complete the application if you are interested in having your child participate. Applications can also be obtained from the main office, PLC office and Guidance office. Completed applications can be returned to classroom teachers or the main office by November 15. Weekly groups will begin to meet in December, 2009. If you have any further questions please call Mrs. Traupman at school.
