Volunteer Opportunities

 

Below is a list of volunteer opportunities available at St. Thomas More. If you are interested in helping, please contact the person associated with that area of service or print and fill out the Volunteer Registration Form and bring it to the main office. Thank you in advance for all your support.

Books – Responsible for verifying book counts, checking in and marking new textbooks. The commitment is one evening in August. Please contact Sharon Homanick at (610) 821-7942 for more information.

Book Fair – Assist with stocking and selling books for the Book Fair. The commitment is 2-3 hours one weekend in February or March. Please contact Maureen Fernbacher, STM School Librarian, at STM for more information.

Bookstore – STM school supplies may be purchased at the start of each school day. Therefore the bookstore needs to be open every morning from 8:00-8:45 am. If you are interested in helping, please contact Sharon Homanick at (610) 821-7942 for more information.

Bus Greeter– Responsible for logging bus arrival times from 7:45-8:15 am. Please contact John Cramsey, Director of Student Services at STM for more information.

Family Center Monitor– Help supervise children prior to start of school day from 7:30-7:55 am. Please contact John Cramsey, Director of Student Services at STM for more information.

Kitchen, cashier – Help collect and count money during lunch from 10:45 am-12:30 pm. Please contact Cindy Kean at (610) 398-8350 for more information.

Kitchen, dishwasher – Help wash student trays and lunch pans from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Please contact Cindy Kean at (610) 398-8350 for more information.

Kitchen, server – Help prepare and serve student lunches from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. If you are interested, please contact Cindy Kean at (610) 398-8350 for more information.

Library – Library aides help staff both school libraries. Responsible for checking books in and out, returning books to shelves, keeping shelves in order, processing books, reading to lower grades, and conducting inventory at end of year. Assistance is needed from 8:25-11:40 am or 11:35 am-2:50 pm. Please indicate on registration form if you prefer to work with a specific grade level. Lunchroom/Playground – Help supervise children in the cafeteria and on the playground from 10:50 am-12:40 pm. Please contact John Cramsey, Director of Student Services at STM for more information.

Marketday – School fundraiser. A form is circulated monthly to school families who may purchase packaged food items. Help is needed to pick, sort and fill orders. Minor lifting required. Time commitment is one Wednesday a month from 1:00-3:00 pm. Contact Linda McLinden at (610) 432-2882 for more information.

More Bread, Inventory – Responsible for weekly reconciliation of cash and certificates. (See More Bread, Sales for description of More Bread program). Please contact Cyndi DeFulvio at STM Rectory for more information.

More Bread, Sales – This is a major school fundraiser where any parish member may purchase gift certificates to be used at various local merchants. Volunteers should feel comfortable working with cash and certificates. There is a rotating, flexible schedule, 3-4 masses/ 2 months, year round. Approximately 45 minutes after weekend masses. Outgrown Uniform Sale, Preparation – Help separate and organize uniforms. Time commitment is 2-3 hours one daytime shift. Please contact Denise Garrity at (610) 481-0453 for more information.

Outgrown Uniform Sale, Work Sale – Help assist with selling of uniforms. Please contact Denise Garrity at (610) 481-0453 for more information.

Parent Safety Committee – Help facilitate morning drop-off by directing children and traffic flow and crossing children. Time commitment is 7:45-8:15 am. Please contact Jean Wolf at (610) 437-9653 for more information.

PJAS – Help assist the 7th and 8th grade in preparing for the PJAS competition. Science and/or public speaking background is helpful. Please contact Mrs. Edith Mauthe (610) 432-0396 for more information.

School Supply Sale – Assist with selling school supplies. Please contact Sharon Homanick at (610) 821-7942 for more information.

Walkathon, Count Money – Help processing and count money. Time commitment is 2 hours one morning, the week following the walkathon. Please contact Jean Choquette at (610) 791-0397 for more information.

Walkathon, Set-up – We need people to act as crossing guards, serve refreshments and clean up the day of the Walkathon. Please contact Jean Choquette at (610) 791-0397 for more information.
