Safe Environment Program - Requirements for Volunteers
The United States Conference of Bishops' Charter for the
Protection of Children and Young People mandates that every Diocese implement Safe Environment programs for all children, parents, and adults. Our Diocese has acquired the Safe Environment program entitled Protecting God's Children. At St. Thomas More, all adults (18 and older) who come into contact with children, regardless of the number of hours, are
mandated to have: 1.) a
background check, 2.&3.) signed acknowledgment forms confirming that they have read and agree to comply with the
Volunteer Code of Conduct and
Sexual Abuse Policy, and 4.) have attended a
Protecting God's Children workshop.
You may attend a workshop at any diocesan location, but must call to register in advance. The next PGC Workshop at St. Thomas More is on:
Wednesday, February 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Disciples Room of the Church.
If you are planning on attending this workshop, you must register in advance. Also, you must be present for the entire workshop to receive credit. Childcare will not be available.
